Woa August!!!
August began with a bang and kept going! Georgia went to Fripp Island with Babcia, Helmut, Aunt Marcie, Uncle Maciej, and the Cates Boys (not to mention us). We had a great time regardless of the heat.
Georgia had her nails cut for the first time ever by her Babcia and Helmut and she enjoyed the pool so much that when we would take her out she would stick out her lower lip. She also started to respond to the lights and sounds of the bouncy seat.
Since Fripp we have gotten her a mobile that shines star/moon shapes at night. She really enjoys looking at them. It is nice to know that she has somethings in common with her mom!
She spent last Friday night with her Aunt Shell and Uncle Dave while her parents got some much needed rest and then she had an evening with her Gammy and Poppy. She must have enjoyed herself because she didn't have any of her crying fits.
Hopefully Valerie was right in that you can really let yourself go with the ones you love the most, because since then she has resumed the 8-12 crying hours!
The first soiree
Well, she has officially been to her first soiree. Georgia attended her Uncle JB and Aunt Alejandra's wedding shower. She was beautifully dressed in a white smocked dress that was originally her Aunt Mamie's.
Finally after voicing herself quite loudly through the night she fell asleep around 1 AM. Fortunately for us she slept until 6:30. She has been kind enough to give us anywhere from 5 to 7 hours of straight sleep for going on a week now, and we appreciate it.
So many changes
The last two weeks have resulted in many changes. Georgia has outgrown several articles of clothing and her newborn diapers. I almost cried when I had to rush out to the store to buy stage one diapers because the newborns wouldn't fit.
She has also experienced a few firsts. She has just recently started making coos and she smiles a lot now.
Her favorite first was visiting the beach. She loved laying in her baby netting while napping on the beach. She also loved dipping her legs in the ocean. I can't wait to get her out to the beach again next week.
Here's to Aunt Shell
Let's face facts, we all know that Georgia is not going to get the ability to accessorize from her parents. Fortunately, Aunt Shell took us to Old Navy and helped us pick out a few things. Then we went home and she showed us how to complete the outfits. Now we can go to the beach in style!
Georgia has grown so much, she is still thin but now she is more than 22" long.
She has enjoyed tummy time and has gained a lot of control over her neck. It is amazing that someone so tiny has grown and developed so much!
Goodbye Colic
Thanks to Aunt Marcie for telling me the best way for Georgia to get her days and nights situated. Andrew and I have been keeping her up at least 4 hours a day so that she only wakes up once a night (and then goes back to sleep!!) We are enjoying the sleep we are getting and the time we spend with her looking around in amazement.
Georgia and I also had our first mother/daughter night. Andrew set up the big screen and let us watch a Muppets DVD in bed. We spent the time snuggling and filing our nails.
